NIA Conducts Searches At 7 Locations In Rajasthan Linked To PFI

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) raided seven locations in Rajasthan in connection with activities of banned outfit Popular Front of India (PFI.)  On February 17, the raids were carried out at three places in Kota, and one each in Sawai Madhopur, Bhilwara, Bundi and Jaipur. NIA Spokesperson said, Sadiq Sarraf, a resident of Baran district Rajasthan, and Mohammed Asif from Kota are involved in unlawful activities.

Delhi Police Arrest 4 PFI Members After Ban

Delhi police have arrested four members of the Popular Front of India (PFI) over a week, following its ban, an official confirmed on October 3. This marks the first few arrested after the central government banned the organisation. After getting information of certain suspicious activities, Delhi police conducted raids at several locations, carried out the arrested and also seized three properties.

Gujarat Police Seal Madrasa For Alleged Links With PFI

The Vadodara police and Gujarat Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) sealed a Madrasa for alleged links to PFI. According to the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), an All India Imams Council (AIIC) meeting took place in the Madrasa, while a search was carried out. ACP further stated that the trustees “are being questioned”. This has come after the centre banned PFI under the UAPA Act, terming it as an unlawful association.

Eleven PFI Workers Arrested & Sent To Judicial Custody By NIA Court

A special court of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested eleven PFI workers and sent them to judicial custody for 21 days, on September 30. The PFI workers were reportedly arrested under the UAPA Act from different locations last week. The arrested persons were earlier sentenced to 7-day judicial custody, which ended on September 30. Further details are awaited.

Central Govt Bans PFI Amid 'Terror Links' With Immediate Effect

The Government of India banned the Popular Front of India (PFI) its associates, affiliates and other groups, amid "terror links". On September 27, after multiple raids across India, the Central Government took the decision and banned the outfit under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA,) for a period of five years, with immediate effect. Besides PFI, other fronts like RIF, CFI, NCHRO and AIIC are also banned in India.

Raids Conducted Across 6 States To Crackdown PFI; 75 Taken Into Preventive Custody

Police along with investigating agencies conducted raids in another major crackdown against Popular Front of India (PFI) on September 27. Reportedly, the raids are being conducted in Assam, Karnataka, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra. Over 75 PFI and SDPI workers have been taken into preventive custody. Furthermore, cases have been booked under Sections 108 and 151 of CrPC.

BJP’s Maharashtra unit has demanded for the ban on Popular Front of India (PFI) for its alleged involvement in anti-national work in the country. Maharashtra’s BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule said that he will speak to CM Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis about the same. This has come after slogans like “Pakistan Zindabad” were raised during one of PFI’s protests in Pune.

Popular Front of India (PFI) workers allegedly vandalised shops and obstructed traffic in the city of Kochi, as way of protest against the recent arrests of top leaders of the organisation. The police also took custody of five members for the same. Reportedly, the shops were vandalised when refused to be shut down. Meanwhile, violent protests have broken in Kerala, where police have arrested over 500 protestors.

Violent PFI Protests Break Out In Kerala; 500 Arrested, 400 Put In Preventive Detained

The twelve-hour strike called by PFI over the arrests of the organisation’s leaders turned violent in Kerala, on September 23. As a result, as many as 500 persons were arrested and 400 others were put in preventive detention. The protests escalated to stone pelting at an RSS office in Mattannur. Reportedly, some protestors were also arrested for allegedly carrying explosives.
