Indian Pharma Exports Clock 18% Growth In FY20-21; Highest In 8 Years

BDR Pharma's Prostate Cancer Drug to be Available in 80mg in India

BDR Pharma announced that its prostate cancer drug, Enzalutamide, will be available in 80mg in India to reduce the pill burden on patients. The tablets are used to treat men with metastatic Castration-Resistant Prostate Cancer (mCRPC) and are priced at Rs 24,480 per pack, consisting of four strips. Earlier, in 2017, BDR Pharma had received authorization from the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) for its 40mg version of Enzalutamide.

Russia Approves First Prescription Drug To Treat Mild and Moderate COVID-19 Symptoms

In a bid to control COVID-19, Russia has authorized R-Pharm's 'Coronavir' as a prescription drug for the treatment of Coronavirus. Reportedly, the drug can be used to treat COVID-19 patients with mild and moderate symptoms and the company is planning to make it available in pharmacies by next week. Russia is the first nation to have approved a prescription drug for Coronavirus.

USFDA Approves 'Treprostinil' Injection to Treat Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension

US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) has given preliminary approval for the Treprostinil injection, which aims to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension. The drug is produced by the subsidiary of Alembic Pharmaceuticals and is expected to be equivalent to Remodulin Injection. Patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension experience high blood pressure in arteries that go from the heart to the lungs.

Mylan Drug Plant at Telangana Not Maintaining Standards: US FDA

The Mylan Laboratories Ltd's Unit 7 is deviating from the Current Good Manufacturing Practices(CGMP), warned the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The FDA, in its letter to Mylan, said that the company had not followed adequate cleaning measures and testing of raw materials for impurities; this could contaminate the materials that are used to produce medicines. The plant is located in the Sangareddy district of Telangana.

Amazon has launched 'Amazon E-pharmacy' services in Bangalore, amid the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Amazon is now expected to compete against NetMeds, Medlife, PharmEasy, and others. The Amazon Pharmacy service will offer prescription-based medicines, over-the-counter and traditional Ayurveda medicines, as well as basic health devices.
