World's 'Oldest Person' Francisca Susano Dies At 124 In Philippines
Philippines' Francisca Susano, the world's "oldest person", passed away at 124, on November 22. Reportedly, Susano aka Lola Iska died peacefully at home in the country's Negros Occidental province's Kabankalan city. The cause of her death is yet to be determined. ''Lola Iska will always remain as our inspiration and pride,'' said Pedro Zayco, the city mayor. Notably, the Guinness World Record is still trying to validate her documents.

Covid-19 Update; Philippines Reports 1,297 New Cases, 305 Deaths
Philippines reported 1,297 new Covid-19 cases on November 18, as per data from Department of Health (DoH), bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 2,821,753. Also, Philippines recorded 305 deaths on the same day, taking the death toll to 46,422. Notably, a "third wave" hit Philippines in the month of September, due to the Delta variant, as the country recorded 26,303 cases on a single day, on September 11.

Philippine Military Plane Crash Reports 17 Deaths; 40 Rescued
According to a local commander, 17 people have died and several are left injured as a Philippine military aircraft carrying over 92 passengers has crashed in the southern Philippines on July 4. Almost 40 passengers have been rescued from the plane so far and the "rescue efforts are ongoing". The accident happened when the pilots missed the runway while trying to land the plane at Jolo airport.

Reportedly, Japan will start an extended holiday beginning in late April as a COVID countermeasure. Filipino-Born Company Turns Plastic Bottles Into Bottle Lights
Liter of Light - a company in the Philippines - has recycled plastic bottles by turning them into lights that do not need electricity. The company had successfully installed about 3,50,000 bottle lights in more than 15 countries. The lights were made out of plastic bottles, water, galvanized steel, and bleach. These easy to maintain bottle lights produce the same light as a 50W incandescent bulb and could be installed anywhere.
