Pilgrim Dies During Amarnath Yatra, Slips In 300 Meter Deep Gorge

The pilgrimage Amarnath Yatra turned tragic for 50-year-old Vijay Kumar Shah. On August 18 night, while returning from the holy Amarnath cave, Vijay slipped to a 300-meter-deep down, resulting in his death. He was rescued by the Indian Army but was found dead, confirmed the J&K police.  Notably, Vijay Kumar Shah was from Tumba village in Rohtas District, Bihar and was on a pilgrimage yatra with one Mamta Kumari.

Amarnath Yatra Resumes After Weather Improved

After days of suspension, the Jammu and Kashmir authority resumes the Amarnath Yatra, giving relief to the stranded pilgrims. The decision to lift the restrictions amid the improved weather in the Pahalgam. In addition, Those pilgrims, who had already performed the Amarnath Yatra but were stranded between the cave shrine and the two base camps have also been allowed to move down, confirmed sources.

Amarnath Yatris Data, Over 67,000 Pilgrims Visited Till July 5

Since the start of the Amarnath Yatra on July 1, a total of 67,566 pilgrims visited the Amarnath Shrine. The data was revealed by the Amarnath Committee Officials, who made elaborate arrangements including RTO, Police, Paramilitary, Medical officials and others. In addition, the Amarnath Shrine data is still underway and more pilgrims are registered to visit the temple, in the next two months and will end on August 31.

Kanpur Road Accident Kills 26 Pilgrims, Rescue Operation Underway: Uttar Pradesh

The death toll in the Kanpur road accident rose to 26, confirmed police on October 2. As per ANI sources, in the Ghatampur area of Kanpur district, a tractor trolley carrying pilgrims from Chandika Devi Temple, Unnao district, overturned, resulting death of 26 people so far. Police have launched a rescue operation with locals, after the incident occurred on October 1. Furthermore, injured are being treated at community hospitals.

J&K LG Manoj Sinha Advices Devotees To Visit Amarnath Before August 5 Due To Bad Weather Forecast

Manoj Sinha, the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir and Chairman of the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board, advised all worshippers to visit the holy cave temple before August 5, noting unfavorable weather predicted. The Amarnath Yatra, which began on June 29, will come to an end on August 11, on the celebration of Raksha Bandhan. The Meteorological Department predicted the weather will worsen later.

16th Batch Of 5,400 Pilgrims Leave For Amarnath Yatra, Confirms Officials

Another batch of 5,400 Amarnath pilgrims left Jammu city for the twin base camps of Pahalgam and Baltal in Kashmir, confirmed the officials on July 15.  The 16th batch of pilgrims left after the yatra, which was suspended, resumed again on July 11. Notably, pilgrims left the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in a convoy of 220 vehicles amid heavy CRPF security. So far, 1.52 lakh pilgrims offered prayers at Amarnath Shrine.

Officials Suspend Amarnath Yatra Temporarily, Pilgrims Waits At Camps

Amid heavy rainfall and cloudbursts, Kashmir valley is witnessing bad weather, following which the concerned authority has suspended the 2022 Amarnath Yatra. On July 14, the yatra was temporarily suspended from Pahalgam as well as Baltal routes and no pilgrim was allowed to move toward the holy cave shrine. Earlier, the yatra was stopped on July 8, amid cloudburst, and resumed on July 11.

Pilgrims Waits For Amarnath Yatra To Resume, Suspended Amid Cloudburst

After the cloudburst incident, the authority suspended the Amarnath yatra temporarily.  Amid the suspended yatra, many pilgrims are waiting at Baltal Base camp for it to recommence. Furthermore, the route of the Amarnath Yatra, in Jammu and Kashmir is also damaged and the repair work to resume the yatra is underway. Meanwhile, amid the cloudburst incident, 16 yatris died and rescue work for other stranded yatris is underway.
