UNDP Awards Pilibhit Tiger Reserve For Doubling Tiger Population

For doubling the count of tigers, Uttar Pradesh's Pilibhit Tiger Reserve (PTR) and the State Forest department have won their first international award TX2, which was presented by the UN Development Program. Reportedly, the tiger count in reserve rose to 65 in 2018 from its 2014 mark of 25 tigers. While none of Indian Tiger Reserves neared the feat, PTR achieved it in 4 years ahead of the 10-year target.
