No Mouthwash For Pilots, Crew, Says New Rule Of DGCA

In the latest directive issued by the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), pilots and crew can't use any mouthwash during flights. The directive was issued after being convinced that these products, which have alcoholic content, with some mouthwashes reporting even a higher content than, say, cough syrup and strong beer. Off Duty Pilot Allegedly Tried Shutting Down Engine Midair

In a shocking incident, an off-duty pilot allegedly tried shutting down the engine in midflight. According to sources, pilot Joseph David Emerson was traveling with Alaska Airlines and was in the cockpit area with other pilots when he made an attempt to stop the San Francisco-bound flight, which was later diverted to Portland, Oregon. David has been detained and charged with 83 counts, including attempted murder.

Air India Pilot Suspended And Fined Of Rs 30 Lakhs

During an Air India Flight Al-915 (Delhi-Dubai), the pilots invited their female friend into the cockpit.  As a result, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has fined the airline Rs. 30 lakhs for not promptly and effectively addressing this safety-sensitive issue. The pilot has also been suspended by the Civil Aviation Department. The matter came to light after one of the operating crew complaint about it to Air India.

Air India Proposes To Re-Hire Pilots Post Retirement For 5 Years

Air India, which is controlled by the Tata Group, has decided to re-hire pilots after they retire for a five-year term as the airline seeks operational stability amid discussions of purchasing 300 single-aisle planes. The post-retirement contract as a commander in Air India will be for 5 years or until the age of 65. Prospective pilots have been instructed to submit their documentation, and written consent, by June 23.

DCGA Fines Vistara Airlines Of Rs 10 Lakh For This

Vistara airlines was fined Rs 10 lakh for violating safety regulations after an untrained pilot landed a flight in Indore. On June 2, the Director-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) imposed the fine, saying, "This was a serious violation endangering lives of the passengers on board". Notably, the pilot on board was not trained to land a flight in a stimulator, which is a necessary requirement before flying craft with passengers.

Footage from the cockpit of a plane, a pilot attempting to land a Boeing 777 during Storm Eunice has gone viral. On February 19, Captain Khalifa Al-Thani, who was flying from Qatar landed the plane at Heathrow Airport in London. Reportedly, the video was shared by Big Jet TVs, where Captain Al-Thani was witnessed being calm until the plane landed safely. However, everyone praised the pilot.

Maharastra: Trainer Killed, Trainee-pilot Critically Injured

In a tragic crash of a two-seater Italian-made aircraft, Noorul Ameen, a 28-year-old pilot-instructor was killed in Maharastra's Jalgoan on June 16. However, a 22-year-old trainee pilot Anshika Gurjar, who was also flying in the same aircraft is survived with multiple fractures. Reportedly, the aircraft is owned by the NMIMS Academy of Aviation at Shirpur, Dhule. The cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained.

Army Chopper Crash Lands In J&K's Kathua; One Pilot Killed

In a tragic incident, the Indian Army's HAL Dhruv helicopter crashed in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district near Punjab border on January 25 evening. While one of the two pilot aboard succumbed to his injuries another was reported to be in critical condition and undergoing treatment. The helicopter was coming from Pathankot and the initial reports suggested that the crash happened due to a technical fault.
