UK Seeks Custom Duty Cut On Electric Vehicles Amid Discussion With India
The UK is pushing for a cut in customs duty on electric vehicles in the ongoing negotiations for signing a free-trade deal with India, a senior official confirmed. At present there is a customs duty of 60 per cent on imported cars priced below $40,000 while it is 100% on those priced above this point. The UK has suddenly brought in the new proposal on electric vehicles, uneasy for India.

Russian Prez Putin Not To Attend G20 Summit In India
Russian President Vladimir Putin had no plans to attend the G20 summit in India in September in person. The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued an arrest warrant for President Putin accusing him of war crimes in Ukraine, which the Kremlin strongly denies. BRICC Summit Announces 6 Nations To Be Full Members, In Effect From Jan 2024

New Bill Proposed In Parliament, To Replace CJI In Selection Panel
In the Monsoon Parliament Session, a new Bill was introduced in the Rajya Sabha. The bill proposed to replace the Chief Justice of India (CJI) in the selection panel for appointment of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and Elections Commissioners (ECs). So far, as per a Supreme Court order, the selection committee had three members, the PM, the Leader of Opposition of Lok Sabha and the Chief Justice.
