PM Narendra Modi is set to kickstart a scheme in Maharashtra, benefiting over 86 lakh farmers. Additionally, he will inaugurate projects exceeding Rs 7,500 crore. Later, around 6.30pm, PM Modi will travel to Goa to officiate the opening of the 37th National Games. Modi’s Maharashtra visit will commence with a visit to the renowned Shri Saibaba temple in Shirdi, where he will inaugurate the new “darshan queue-complex.”

On October 21, 1959, ten courageous Policemen laid down their lives in a fierce ambush by heavily armed Chinese troops at Hot Springs in Ladakh. In their memory and that of all Police personnel who have made the ultimate sacrifice while on duty, October 21 is observed as Police Commemoration Day. This day serves as a poignant reminder of the brave people, who dedicated their lives for national security.

PM Narendra Modi asked scientists to aim to send the first Indian to the Moon by 2040 and set up an Indian space station by 2035, said an official statement. He gave these directions during a meeting to review the preparedness of the Gaganyaan mission and the first demonstration flight of the crew for October 21. "The meeting evaluated the mission’s readiness, affirming its launch in 2025," the statement said.

PM Narendra Modi said India is promoting the participation of women in every sector with almost 50% of the elected representatives in local self-government institutions. The recent law on granting one-third reservation to women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies will further enrich the country's parliamentary tradition, said PM Modi.  The statement was made at the inaugural session of the ninth G20 Parliamentary Speakers' Summit (P20).

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the Indian government was acting independently in the interests of its citizens and that any efforts by the West to create a rift between Moscow and New Delhi were pointless. "The West is trying to create an enemy out of everyone who does not agree with their monopoly, everyone is at risk - even India, but the Indian leadership is acting independently for the nation.
