A person has been arrested for allegedly raping a minor girl here, police said on September 2. The accused was absconding after committing the crime four days ago and identified Aijaz Ahmad was arrested for raping a minor girl in Srinagar. The police confirmed the same through a Twitter post. Furthermore, a case has been registered under the IPC sections and POCSO Act and an investigation is underway.
A Mumbai court, while hearing a case of child sex abuse, held that masturbation in the presence of another person is sufficient to infer sexual intent of an accused. With this, the court convicted a 60-year-old in the aforementioned child sex abuse case. A complaint filed under the POCSO Act states that, the accused flashed to the victim, while masturbating in front of him.

Booked in sexual assault and rape charges of minor, Shivamurthy Murugha Sharanaru has been sent to 14-days judicial custody, in Karnataka. The Chief of Sri Murugha Mutt was arrested on September 1, and underwent all the necessary medical tests. Notably, Murugha Sharanaru is currently lodged in Chitradurga District Jail and will be produced before an open court, on September 2. Shivamurthy is booked under POCSO Act.
A man was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting his minor daughter for the past seven years in Ambala, Haryana, confirmed police on August 31. In Dumka incident of Jharkhand, the State Child Welfare Committee demanded the Protection of Children Against Sexual Offence (POCSO) act on the accused, a youth named Shah Rukh. The committee said, the girl who was burnt alive for rejecting love proposal was a minor, as per her documents of class X. Notably, in the police FIR, the girl was claimed to be an adult, hence only IPC sections were registered.
In Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad, two girls, aged nine and six, respectively were allegedly abducted. On August 19, the police confirmed murder and rape of the nine-year-old girl, whose body was found in a field with blood stains on her clothes. The six-year-old managed to escape, and registered a case against a youth, a resident of girl's village, who has been arrested and confessed the crime, said SSP Muniraj G.
A special court in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh convicted a man for alleged rape and sexual assault on a minor in 2015. The Special Judge for the POCSO court Sangeeta Kumar pronounced 10 years of rigorous imprisonment on the convict Shanu Ali and imposed Rs 70,000 fine, which will be handed over to the survivor. The Meghalaya HC dismissed POCSO charges against a man, after considering that the accused and minor girl, were living together as husband-wife, and their relationship was approved by the family. The court said, "this is precisely the case here where a minor girl who is living with a man as husband-wife, with the blessings of the family has to witness her husband being prosecuted," and dismissed the case.

In Odisha, a Fast Track Court Judge-cum-Additional District Judge Bhaskar Chandra Sahu, gave 10-year rigorous imprisonment (RI) to a tribal man for kidnapping a 17-year-old girl and repeatedly raping her for three-years. On July 13 verdict, the Kandhamal district judge also imposed Rs 2 lakh fine. If the accused fail to pay the fine, he needs to spend an additional 2-years in jail in the 2019 rape and kidnapping case.
Delhi High Court on July 13 rejected a plea against a conviction and punishment under the POCSO Act for raping a young girl in her home in 2014. The High Court found that the appellant had exploited and breached the victim's parents' trust by taking on the role of guardian in their absence. In June 2021, the trial court sentenced him to life in prison for at least 14 years.
