Jharkhand Child Welfare Committee Demands POCSO Act Against Accused: Dumka Incident

In Dumka incident of Jharkhand, the State Child Welfare Committee demanded the Protection of Children Against Sexual Offence (POCSO) act on the accused, a youth named Shah Rukh. The committee said, the girl who was burnt alive for rejecting love proposal was a minor, as per her documents of class X. Notably, in the police FIR, the girl was claimed to be an adult, hence only IPC sections were registered.

UP Youth Kidnaps 2 Minors, Rapes & Murders Nine Year Old

In Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad, two girls, aged nine and six, respectively were allegedly abducted. On August 19, the police confirmed murder and rape of the nine-year-old girl, whose body was found in a field with blood stains on her clothes. The six-year-old managed to escape, and registered a case against a youth, a resident of girl's village, who has been arrested and confessed the crime, said SSP Muniraj G.

Special Court Pronounce 10 Years Rigorous Imprisonment To Rape Convict: Uttar Pradesh

A special court in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh convicted a man for alleged rape and sexual assault on a minor in 2015. The Special Judge for the POCSO court Sangeeta Kumar pronounced 10 years of rigorous imprisonment on the convict Shanu Ali and imposed Rs 70,000 fine, which will be handed over to the survivor. Meghalaya Court Dismiss POCSO Charges On Man After Minor Confirms Living As Wife

The Meghalaya HC dismissed POCSO charges against a man, after considering that the accused and minor girl, were living together as husband-wife, and their relationship was approved by the family. The court said, "this is precisely the case here where a minor girl who is living with a man as husband-wife, with the blessings of the family has to witness her husband being prosecuted," and dismissed the case.

Tribal Man Gets 10 Year RI In Kidnapping, Rape Case: Odisha

In Odisha, a Fast Track Court Judge-cum-Additional District Judge Bhaskar Chandra Sahu, gave 10-year rigorous imprisonment (RI) to a tribal man for kidnapping a 17-year-old girl and repeatedly raping her for three-years. On July 13 verdict, the Kandhamal district judge also imposed Rs 2 lakh fine. If the accused fail to pay the fine, he needs to spend an additional 2-years in jail in the 2019 rape and kidnapping case.

Delhi HC Quashes Plea Against Conviction In POCSO Act For Raping Minor Girl In Her House

Delhi High Court on July 13 rejected a plea against a conviction and punishment under the POCSO Act for raping a young girl in her home in 2014. The High Court found that the appellant had exploited and breached the victim's parents' trust by taking on the role of guardian in their absence. In June 2021, the trial court sentenced him to life in prison for at least 14 years.

68-Year-Old Man Rapes 10-Year-Old In Mahim, Receives Life Imprisonment: Mumbai

A special POCSO (Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012) court has pronounced life Imprisonment to a 68-year-old man for sexually assaulting a minor in Mumbai's Mahim. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the accused. The police stated, the accused along with a juvenile dragged a 10-year-old girl to a floor mill and raped. He also threatened to kill her if she reported him.

Mathura Police Arrests 2 Accused In Minor's Gang Rape, 2 Absconding

In a rape case, the Mathura Police arrested two youths for raping a minor girl(13), filming the act and sharing on online platforms. Notably, in early June, a case was registered against four accused, of which two have been arrested, two are absconding. Victim's father registered the FIR, after his daughter was raped by four, of which two arrested are Pramod and Rahul. The investigation to nab remaining is underway.

Madrassa Teacher Rapes 7-Year-Old Minor, FIR Registered: Uttar Pradesh

In Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur region, a seven-year-old minor was allegedly raped by a madrassa teacher, confirmed police on June 23. Furthermore, the SP (Rural) Suraj Rai registered a report based on the complaint of the victim's father. In addition, Rai said the accused also threatened to kill her if she told her family members about it. A case has been registered under Section 376, IPC and the POCSO Act.
