Police Offered Bribe To Remain Silent, Says Vignesh's Brother: Chennai Custodial Death

Vinod, brother of V Vignesh (25) who died in police custody on April 19, said that the police offered him and his family Rs 1 lakh, as bribe to remain silent about the incident. He said that they weren't allowed to see Vignesh's body after post-mortem. "There were wounds on my brother's body," said Vinod. Reportedly, Vignesh and his friends were arrested for possession of drugs in Chennai's Kellys area.

Suspected Drug Peddler Shot While Allegedly Trying To Flee From Police Custody: Assam

A suspected drug peddler in Assam's Karbi Anglong, was shot in the leg while allegedly trying to escape from police custody, on April 19. Reportedly, the accused who was arrested for the possession of 100 grams of drugs, was being taken to apprehend his associate from Dimapur. According to the police, when the vehicle stopped, the accused tried to flee, and after repeated warnings, the police took "action".

Uttar Pradesh Govt Suspends Cop After Being Spotted In Viral Video

In Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur Dehat district, police personnel on December 9 were reported to have hit a man carrying a child in his arms. In a viral video, a cop was spotted beating a man with sticks, while another policeman was spotted snatching the baby from the man's arms. Unnao Police Frames Murders Charges On 3 Cops For Beating Vendor To Death

Murder charges were imposed on three policemen from UP’s Unnao on May 21 for severely beating an 18-year-old vegetable vendor named Faisal Hussain to death. While the family alleged that he was beaten to death, the police claimed the death due to heart attack. Reportedly, three police officers were suspended following the incident. Unnao SP Anand Kulkarni said the vendor was brought to police station for violating COVID curfew.

MP Police Beats Auto Driver Ruthlessly; Refused To Appear At Police Station
