Political, Religious Gatherings Propelled COVID Spread In India: WHO
The WHO's epidemiological report has cited unrestricted religious and political gatherings as the reason behind the spread of more contagious coronavirus variant in India. Besides, it attributed "underuse and reduced adherence to public health and social measures" like wearing masks for the same. The WHO said India's share for COVID cases and deaths in South-East Asia is 95% and 93% respectively, while at global level it is 50% and 30%.

Tamil Nadu Government Reimposes Ban On Public Gatherings
Amid surging cases and fear of second wave of COVID-19, the Tamil Nadu government has re-imposed a ban on public gatherings. The ban will be enforced on religious, social, political, cultural, academic, and other gatherings from November 16. The decision was taken as a measure to tighten COVID-19 health protocols since people showed laxity in following the guidelines. Earlier, a gathering with a footfall of up to 100 people was allowed.

Home Ministry Allows Political Gatherings Ahead Of Elections In Bihar
Union Home Ministry on October 8 entrusted the state governments to decided on the political gatherings of more than 100 people. However, it stated that the permissions should be granted only for non-containment zones and in the Assembly or parliamentary constituencies where elections will happen soon.
