Opposition In Parliament Demand PM Modi's Statement On Viral Manipur Violence

In the ongoing Parliament Session, opposition MPs and leaders raised objections over PM Narendra Modi not speaking about the recent gruesome viral Manipur assault on two women. MP Raghav Chaddha, TMC leaders, Congress and other parties also protested and demanded a detailed discussion over the recent assault, which has shook the nation, and questioned why the Manipur Government and Central Government did not do anything.

Income Tax Department Conducts Multiple Raids Amid Tax Evasion

The income tax department launched multiple raids as part of a tax evasion probe against registered unrecognised political parties (RUPP) and their alleged dubious funding. Conducted on September 7, the raids were carried out in Gujarat, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Haryana and some other states. The surprise raid was in the view of suggestion of the Election Commission, amid alleged tax evasion by companies.

SC Bench Reviews Political Freebies Row, Asks What Is Freebies?

The Supreme Court bench led by CJI NV Ramana reviewed the freebies row and said, it cannot prevent political parties from making promises during the election campaigns. On August 17, Ramana said, "The question is what constitutes right promises and what is the right way of spending public money." Haryana Civil Polls Underway, 12.60 Lakh Voters Eligible

Haryana Municipal committees and municipal council elections for 28 and 18 seats respectively are underway on June 19. Scheduled between 7am-6pm, the polling will be held in 1,290 (municipal councils) and 671 stations (municipalities). M Venkaiah Naidu, the Chairman of Rajya Sabha released new seating arrangements for MPs, on January 31. With the beginning of the Union Budget session, Naidu urged  MPs of all the parties to follow the new seating, which has been in place due to ongoing COVID-19 third wave. Since 2020, the Parliament adapted new distance seating arrangements, which was avoided in the Monsoon session, held recently.
