Army Chief Reviews Security Preparedness In J&K's Poonch & Rajouri
Amid the counter-infiltration operations in Jammu and Kashmir, Army Chief General M M Naravane reviewed the security preparedness in Rajouri and Poonch districts in the state on October 19. The Army chief arrived on a two-day visit in Jammu on the afternoon of October 18. Reportedly, nine security personnel have lost their lives so far during the combat against terrorists in the state.

Congress' ex-MP From Jammu And Kashmir Madan Lal Sharma Dies
Madan Lal Sharma, two-time Congress MP from Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, died on December 23. The 68-year-old Congress leader had represented the Indian National Congress from the Poonch constituency in the 14th and 15th Lok Sabha. However, during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Sharma was defeated by BJP's Jugal Kishore Sharma. Expressing his grief, J&K BJP President Ravinder Raina tweeted, "He was a hardworking leader."
