SC Recalls Centre's Promise, Says Bound To Release 1993 Bomb Blast Accused Salem
The Supreme Court said the Centre is bound to honour its commitment given to Portugal and release gangster Abu Salem on completion of his 25-year sentence in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case. Notably, the Indian Government gave a solemn assurance to Portugal, which asked for the extradition of Salem in 2002. The necessary papers be forwarded within a month of completion of 25 years, said SC bench.
