Positivity rate

India reported 4,362 new COVID-19 cases, on March 7. The Union Health Ministry has confirmed 9,620 recoveries and 66 deaths in the last 24 hours. While the active caseload stands at 54,118, the current recovery rate in the country is at 98.68%. However, from 29 days, the daily COVID-19 cases have remained below one lakh. Moreover, as of now, India has administered 178.90 crore vaccine doses to the people.

The Department of Information and Public Relations, on January 19, said that Mizoram reported 1,312 new COVID-19 cases, while one person died, in the last 24 hours. The current positivity rate in the state stands at 16.02%. The total number of cases now in the state has gone up to 1,55,071, while the active caseload stands at 9,012. Notably, the COVID-19 death toll in the state has risen to 574. 

The Health and Women Welfare Ministry, on January 15 said that India reported 2,71,202 new COVID-19 cases, 1,38,331 recoveries, and 314 deaths in the last 24 hours. However, 2,369 fresh cases have been reported on January 16. Notably, the current recovery rate is 94.51% and daily positivity rate in the country stands at 16.28%. Moreover, as of now India has administered 156.76 Crore vaccine doses to people.

The district administration of Jammu has decided to reimpose a night curfew due to an increase in COVID-19 positivity rate in the winter capital from November 17. The positivity rate has increased by 0.2% in the city. ''The district disaster management authority (DDMA) imposes night curfew from 10 PM to 6 AM,'' said Anshul Garg District Magistrate. He also warned people of strict action upon not following the rules. 

The COVID-19 positivity rate in Kerala has increased to 10% from 9.4%, making it the only Indian state where the rate is increasing. It is followed by Goa with 6%. However, no other Indian state is above the 5% level as the national positivity rate stood at 2.2% during December 13-26. Moreover, UP, Andhra Pradesh, Assam and Bihar recorded the least positivity rate of below 1% for the period concerned.
