Calcutta HC Forms 5-Judge Bench To Hear PILs Over Post Poll Violence

Entertaining the PILs filed against the post-poll violence in West Bengal, the Calcutta High Court on May 7 constituted a five-judge bench. Scheduling the hearing for May 10, the court has asked for a detailed report from the state government regarding the violence-hit areas and " steps taken to prevent or control it". Moreover, one PIL has complained about circulation of fake images on social media to incite communal hatred.

Centre Warns Bengal CM Mamata For Failing To Produce Report On Violence

The Union Home Ministry, in its latest letter to West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee on May 6, has underlined her non-responsive attitude towards the reports demanded by the Centre on the post-poll violence in the state.
