MERC Approves Power Tariff Hike Between 5-10 %, New Rates From April 1
In a burn to pockets of common man, electricity tariff in Maharashtra has been increased by 5-10%, in effect from April 1. The notification came after the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) approved the hike in power tariffs. As per notification, the MSEDCL power tariff hiked by 6% for residential customers and 1% for industrial categories. However, it is strange that Adani electricity witnessed the lowest hike (5%).

Kerala Govt Revises Power Tariff After 3 Years, Hikes By 6.6%
The Kerala State Electricity Regulatory Commission has announced a power tariff hike of 6.6% across the state, on June 25. This is the first power tariff hike in three years. The Commission confirmed that the revised tariff will not apply to the weaker sections, agricultural consumers, small scale industries and small farmers. Punjab Govt Hikes DA By 11% & Cuts Power Tariff By Rs 3 Per Unit
Ahead Diwali, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on November 1 increased the dearness allowance by 11% and reduced the power tariff by Rs 3 per unit. The benefit of the tariff will go to only those who have upto 7 kilowatt load connection. The benefit of tariff and the hike in DA will cause the burden of Rs 3,316 crore and Rs 440 on the state exchequer.
