Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose's great-granddaughter Rajshree Chaudhary Bose has been put under house arrest in reserve police line, confirmed police on August 8. They said she was asked to deboard the train and put under house arrest without any outside contact including Media. Notably, Bose was going to Varanasi to attend an event organised by the Vishwa Hindu Sena as the chief guest, when she was asked to stop.

The "Dog Tax" was announced by government officials in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. Depending on the type of dog, pet owners may be required to pay more than Rs.100. The Municipal Corporation formerly charged a levy of Rs.500 on costly breed dogs and Rs.200 on locally bred canines. Now citizens will be required to pay around Rs.630 annually. A license would also be required to keep a pet dog at home.

Rita Bahuguna Joshi, a BJP MP from Prayagraj cast her vote in the ongoing polls in Uttar Pradesh and said the party will win more than 300 seats. "We are expecting 70% voters' turnout in Prayagraj and we will win all the seats from here," said Joshi to ANI. The fifth phase of UP elections polling is underway and 692 candidates' fates are in the hands of 2.24 crore voters.

Over one crore devotees will take a holy dip in the Sangam in Prayagraj, on February 1. Amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the fair is being held with strict observance of Covid-19 protocols. The Mela administration has divided the fair area into five sectors. Two 50-bed hospitals, 12 health camps, and 10 treatment centres have been set up. Notably, Mauni Amavasya falls on the moonless day of Magh month.

The preparations for the Magh Mela festival which is organized in the month of January in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh have started in full swing. This is a much-awaited event for the devotees who take the holy dip in Sangam from January 14. "There are 16 entry points for the mela. All the people involved in the mela have to be double vaccinated," SSP Rajeev N Mishra said to ANI.
PM Narendra Modi, on December 21, is scheduled to visit Prayagraj, UP. During the visit, PM will transfer Rs 1,000 crore in bank accounts of 1.60 lakh SHGs. In addition, Modi will release Rs 20.20 crore, benefiting 1.01 lakh girls under the Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana in UP. Furthermore, PM Modi will launch 202 supplementary food nutrition units and other projects in Prayagraj, ahead of the UP Assembly polls.

Primary schools in UP's Prayagraj district provided nearly 2,470 mathematics kit among the students of young age in-order to enhance the love for subject. The Basic Siksha Adhikari Sanjay Kushwaha stated that the kit helped children to learn maths while playing & banish the fear of subject. However, the kit contains 21 elements which include an abacus, cloth clips, fraction strips, play money and manuals for teachers.

The Uttar Pradesh Police in Prayagraj district on April 25 arrested two youths, Sachin Gupta and Anshu Gupta, for allegedly forwarding objectionable photos and comments over PM Narendra Modi on WhatsApp. During investigation, the boys admitted that they forwarded such contents to WhatsApp groups just for fun. The two were nabbed following a raid as a part of UP's strict monitoring of social media to avoid any tension and disturbance.
