Supreme Court Puts Stay On Allahabad HC's Lockdown Order
The Supreme Court on April 20 stayed the Allahabad High Court's order of locking down 5 cities of Uttar Pradesh. The apex court announced the decision against a plea file by the state government challenging the high court's order. Earlier, the Allahabad High Court had ordered a closure of five cities - Prayagraj, Lucknow, Varanasi, Kanpur and Gorakhpur - due to sudden spike in COVID-19 cases.

UP's Prayagraj Gets Treatment Plant That Converts Plastic Into Diesel
To promote a clean environment, a factory has been set up in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj that converts plastic waste into fuel. Inaugurated by Prayagraj Municipal Corporation Mayor Abhilasha Gupta Nandi, the plant processes approximately 400-500 metric tons of garbage from the city. PMC engineer Uttam Verma said the plant operated by PMC will generate around 1200-1400 litres of diesel from two quintals of plastic waste daily.

Gas Leak At IFFCO Phulpur Plant In Uttar Pradesh Kills Two People
A tragic gas leak accident at the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) plant in UP's Phulpur area has killed at least two people and injured over dozen. Prayagraj Officials Plans To Cover Cows With Jute Coat To Protect From Cold

Uttar Pradesh: 4 Die After Consuming Illicit Liquor; 5 Hospitalised
Consumption of illicit liquor has caused at least 4 deaths in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj district, while 5 people are admitted to a hospital. The incident happened at Amilia village of the district on November 20. Police and excise departments are probing the incident. Reportedly, the villagers informed that the victims got the liquor from a local shop, following which the police have taken a man into custody.

UP To Have World's Tallest Solar Tree; To Generate 0.5 KW Of Electricity
Under the Smart City Project, two city parks in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj district will get a hi-tech solar tree that will generate about 0.5 KW of electricity. Reportedly, the state's first solar tree will be 8 metre tall and will exceed Canada's solar tree at Ontario by 1 metre, to become the "tallest" in the world. Currently, world’s largest solar tree with 11.5 KW capacity is installed in Durgapur, West Bengal.

North Central Railway Creates Special Cycle for Better Inspection of Tracks
A team of experts from the North Central Railway has developed an unique 'track-cycle' to help the staff to inspect and repair railway tracks. The cycle that costs around Rs 3,000 can be used by the staff to travel through the tracks. Reportedly, it can conveniently carry two people. According to officials, the cycle will reduce the time taken by the staff to reach a location thereby increasing the efficiency.
