Sister Gifts New Life To Dying Brother On Raksha Bandhan

On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, a 43-year-old woman gifted a new life to her brother, after she donated a part of her liver for complex transplant surgery.  On August 11, the private hospital, where the 40-year-old man, suffering from liver failure, released a statement of successful surgery. "For me, my brother is everything. I am happy that I gifted him something precious this Rakshabandhan," said the woman.

Kerala Reports Over 46,000 Fresh COVID-19 Cases

Continuing the rise in COVID-19 cases, Kerala Health Department confirmed the highest single day spike, over 46,387 fresh cases on January 20. Besides, the state reported 15,388 recoveries and 32 fatalities in the past 24 hours. With the new cases, Kerala currently has 1,99,091 active cases and 55,501 deceased. Meanwhile, a total of 1,337 people were hospitalized for COVID-19 treatment.

Bengaluru Hospital Admits Insurance Scams Through Fake COVID Reports

In light of abusing the system, few private hospitals in Bengaluru admitted fake Covid patients during the first & second waves by producing false Covid reports. However, It was done to redeem hospital bills through insurance premiums. BBMP chief commissioner Gaurav Gupta said, "We acknowledge such instances with great concern. Nobody should be allowed to get away with this. We will initiate action against such hospitals".

Tamil Nadu To Host Free Vaccine Camps With CSR Funds

Maharashtra: 24X7 Covid-19 Vaccination Centres Operate In Nashik

Two private hospitals namely HCG Manavata Cancer Centre and Suyash Hospital in Maharashtra’s Nashik have started a "round-the-clock vaccination centre" with an aim to vaccinate people at their convenience. The centres are in operation 24x7. Reportedly, over 2,500 people got jabbed with two shots at these centres and 10% of the individuals decided to get vaccinated after 9 p.m. and before 7 a.m.

Haryana Hospital Accused Of Over Charging Patient By 250 Percent

Raje Singh Rawat, a patient at Wings Hospital in Haryana has accused the authorities of overcharging him by 250 percent, the original bill being Rs 1.68 lakhs but was charged Rs 4.23 lakhs. The 65-year-old has also accused the hospital of negligence in the treatment of his wife, who later succumbed to her disease. However,  as a precautionary measure, Rawat & his wife were admitted to hospital along with his six children on May 2.

Centre Caps Covishield At Rs 780, Covaxin At Rs 1,410 For Pvt Hospitals

The Centre on June 8 announced the revised prices of COVID-19 vaccines for private hospitals. A shot of Covishield will now cost Rs 780, and Russia's Sputnik will be available at Rs 1,145. Besides, Covaxin will cost the highest with Rs 1,410 per dose. The prices are including of 5% GST as well. The government has also allowed the vaccine manufacturers to directly sell the doses to private hospitals.

K'taka To Punish Hospitals Refusing To Give COVID Bodies Over Dues

The Karnataka government has directed all district administrations to cancel registration of private hospitals that refuse to hand over  bodies of COVID-19 victims to families due to incomplete payment. COVID-19 Vaccine Price In Indian Pvt Hospitals Costliest In World

The COVID-19 vaccine cost in India's private hospitals is the highest in the world in contrast to several countries providing free vaccines. Data from CoWIN website revealed that private hospitals are charging between Rs 700 to Rs 1,500/shot to vaccinate 18-44 age group people. The amount charged is almost six times more than Rs 250 charged for vaccinating people above 45. Hospital also claimed of huge pendency in Covishield orders.

TN Adds Pvt Hospitals For COVID Care Under State Health Insurance Scheme

Hours after sworn in as Tamil Nadu CM, MK Stalin on May 7 announced to provide free COVID-19 treatment in private hospitals under the CM’s Comprehensive Health insurance scheme. Besides allocating COVID-19 financial relief of Rs 4000 per family, CM Stalin decreased milk prices by Rs 3/litre. Stalin also introduced free travel for women, students and professionals in state owned buses from May 8.
