Farmers in Punjab staged a protest and demanded sacking of Union minister of state for home Ajay Mishra, amid the Lakhimpur accident, in which eight people, including four farmers, were killed. The Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee (KMSC) blocked rail traffic for three hours from Monday noon on the first anniversary of the Lakhimpur Kheri violence. "We are holding protest at 17 locations in the region," said Sarwan Singh Pandher.

A huge ruckus was reported at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, after German carrier Lufthansa airlines cancelled almost all passenger and cargo flights on September 2.  The flights were cancelled from Frankfurt and Munich, due to planned strike action by pilots. MLA Raja Singh's controversy intensified with extreme protests in Old City, on August 24. Muslims across the Old City gathered and protested demanding action against the suspended BJP MLA Singh over his 'Prophet Muhammad' remark. To control the situation, police shut down petrol pumps in the Old City, especially the Nampally Court, which rejected his remanded order of Singh, and ordered for his release.
