Govt Commissions 2,494 Oxygen Plants In 'Record' 112 Days
In a remarkable achievement, as many as 2,494 medical oxygen generation plants have been authorized at government hospitals in 112 days across 733 districts in India. It's a capacity to produce 3,324 tonnes of medical oxygen per day. Notably, 100% of the sanctioned plants are fully operational in 22 states and Union Territories. Reportedly, the government took the crisis as an opportunity to install these plants at hospitals.

425 Oxygen Plants Out Of 1,222 Sanctioned Works In India
According to the health ministry, 11 Indian states fall under the red category list for having less than 25% medical oxygen plants operational. The ministry has also said among the 1,222 sanctioned Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA), only 425 or 35% PSAs are operational, and all the plants will be commissioned by December. However, states informed lack of equipment supply and manpower are a few reasons for the delay.

Over 50% Of J&K Detainees Under UAPA, PSA Are Still In Jail, Report Claims
Official reports revealed that more than 2,300 people were booked in J&K under the UAPA in 2019 with 46% of them still in jail. Similarly, 30% out of the 954 people under the Public Safety Act (PSA) are still locked up. However, around 5500 people were detained in 2019 as preventive custody under section 107 of the CrPc, which has been released as per the Home Department.
