Puducherry Reports First 2 Cases Of Omicron: Health Director G Sriramulu

Union territory (UT) Puducherry reported first two cases of COVID-19's new variant, Omicron, on December 28. A 20-year-old woman and a 80-year-old man were reported Omicron positive, but details of how they got infected is awaited. "Health department personnel visited the areas from where the two patients hailed and are trying to find out weather they had a contact history," said G. Sriramulu, the Health Director of Puducherry.

Puducherry Govt Makes Vaccination Compulsory: Covid-19

Amid rising fear of Covid-19's new variant Omicron, the Puducherry Government announced compulsory vaccination, to come into effect immediately, from December 5. "We have imposed compulsory Covid-19 vaccination in Puducherry UT. Out of over 10 lakh eligible people, only 7.74 lakh people are vaccinated," said Health Director G Sriramulu. Reportedly, over 2 lakh people are not vaccinated in the UT.

Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, TN State Polls End With High Voter Turnout

Voting for 475 seats in four states and an Union Territory concluded on April 6. While Assam’s last phase polls recorded highest (82.28%) voter turnout, West Bengal’s phase-3 elections on 31 seats recorded 77.68% voter turnout. Vijay Hazare: With 227*, Prithvi Shaw Becomes Highest Individual Scorer

Mumbai lad Prithvi Shaw recorded the highest individual score in the history of the Vijay Hazare Trophy following a stellar unbeaten knock of 227 runs in 152 balls. Prithvi's innings against the Puducherry included 32 fours and five sixes. Previously, the record was held by Kerala's Sanju Samson, who scored 212 not out against Goa in 2019. With Surya Kumar Yadav's cameo, Mumbai scored 457 runs after losing six wickets.
