Hurricane Fiona: Cuts Out Power In Puerto Rico, Causes Landfall & Flooding

Hurricane Fiona has caused landfalls, landslides and floods in Puerto Rico, before making its way toward the Dominican Republic, informed a government official. The hurricane knocked out power in major parts of the island. The National Hurricane Centre (NHC) termed Hurricane Fiona as a Category 1 Hurricane, with wind speeds reaching 140 kmph. The NHC further stated that the hurricane caused “catastrophic flooding” on September 18.

Vessel Capsizes Off Coast Of Puerto Rico: 11 Dead, 31 Rescued

A vessel capsized off the coast of Puerto Rico on May 11, killing 11 people and rescuing 31 others. According to the US Coast Guard, the vessel was anticipated of taking part in an "illegal migrant voyage." The majority of the passengers on the boat were said to be Haitians. The Coast Guard and its partner agencies are continuing to respond whilst the number of individuals on board remains unknown.

Emilio Marquez Is The World's Oldest Living Man: Guinness World Records

Emilio Flores Marquez of Puerto Rico, who is 112-year and 326-days-old has been regarded as the world’s oldest living man by the Guinness World Records. Also known as "Don Milo", Marquez had worked on the family’s sugarcane farm besides three years of formal schooling. "It's always an honor to celebrate these remarkable human beings," said Craig Glenday, Editor-in-Chief at Guinness World Records.
