Punjab, Haryana CMs Receive VP Naidu At Chandigarh Airport

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar received Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu at the Chandigarh airport on 6th May. This comes just ahead of the 69th convocation of Panjab University. Naidu, who also serves as the Chancellor of the varsity, will be attending the event. The security at the Panjab University campus has been beefed up.

Punjab CM Condemns Centre's Decision To Enhance Powers Of BSF

Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi took to Twitter on October 13 to condemn the Centre's decision to extend the jurisdiction of the Border Security Force to a 50 km belt along the international border in Punjab, West Bengal and Assam. Earlier, the BSF's jurisdiction was a 15 km belt along the border. In the area under its jurisdiction, BSF officers have powers of arrest, search and seizure on par with their police counterparts.

Captain on 29th September also had a word with the Union Home Minister Amit Shah, where the two discussed the Farm laws and possible ways to halt the 11 month long Framer's protest.

Bollywood actor Sonu Sood was announced as 'brand ambassador' for Punjab's COVID-19 vaccination scheme by the state CM Captain Amarinder Singh. Stating, Sonu's popularity will encourage people to undergo vaccination, CM added, "there is no one more ideally suited to inspire people to take the vaccine". Later, expressing his gratitude on recognition, the philanthropist actor gifted his book "I am no Messiah" to CM, said he felt honoured.
