Samyukta Kisan Morcha Says Not Participating In 2022 Punjab Poll

Ahead of the upcoming Punjab election, two leaders of the nine-member coordination committee of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) on December 25 announced that the Morcha won't contest the election. Furthermore, they said the Morcha was only made to resolve the farmers' issues related to the three agricultural laws. It has also been announced that disciplinary action will be taken if anyone uses the organisation's name in the poll.

SAD To Make Deputy CM From BSP If Wins 2022 Punjab Election

Sukhbir Singh Badal, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president, said his party will make deputy chief minister from SAD's alliance partner Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) if it comes to power in Punjab on December 10. SAD has planned to contest 97 seats while BSP will fight on 20 out of the total 117 seats, reported ANI. Notably, Congress had won 77 seats in 2017, followed by AAP, SAD, and BJP.

Capt. Amarinder Sing Announces Alliance With BJP: Punjab Election

Former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on December 6 said his party Punjab Lok Congress will contest the Punjab election in alliance with Bhartiya  Janta Party (BJP) and Dhindsa's party. ''Our aim is to win the Punjab assembly election and we'll,'' said Singh in Chandigarh. The election for the 117 seats will be held in 2022. In 2017, the Aam Aadmi Party was the biggest rival of the Congress.

New Party Launched In Punjab To Fight For Farmers: Punjab Election

In Punjab, ahead of the upcoming assembly election, a new political party namely ''Krantikari Mazdoor Kisan Party'' has been launched on November 20. ''The party will fight for the issues faced by workers, peasants, farmers, and people of Punjab,'' said Lashkar Singh, Chairman of the party. However, the party is yet to be registered with the Election Commission of India. We'll fight the full-fledged Punjab election, added Singh.

Sonu Sood Confirms Her Sister Malvika Will Contest Punjab Election

Actor Sonu Sood on November 14 confirmed that his sister Malvika Sood will fight in the 2022 Punjab election. However, he said he won't join the politics amid the speculation of joining. ''We'd disclose the name of the party at an appropriate time,'' said Sonu. He also supported Malvika saying she's the spirit to serve the people. Notably, Sood met with Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi on November 12.

Shiromani Akali Dal Unveils 3 New Candidates For Punjab Election

Ahead of the Punjab Assembly election, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on November 13 announced three new candidates for the election. The new announcement has increased SAD's candidate list to 83 out of 97 candidates who will fight for it. Three new names include Sunita Chaudhary who will fight from the Balachaur seat, Jaspal Singh Bitu Chatha from Patiala Rural seat, Bachittar Singh Khohar from Shahkot seat.

Former Punjab CM Amarinder Singh To Launch Own Party Before Poll

In the biggest development of Punjab politics, former CM Amarinder Singh, who recently left the Congress on October 19, announced to launch his own party before the 2022 assembly election. Amarinder further said that he's ready to ally with like-minded parties. However, him joining BJP is unlikely, owing to the farmers' issue. ''The Battle for Punjab is on. Will soon announce the launch of my own political party,'' said Singh.
