Farmers Protests Against Union Govt, Demands Sacking Of Minister Ajay Mishtra
Farmers in Punjab staged a protest and demanded sacking of Union minister of state for home Ajay Mishra, amid the Lakhimpur accident, in which eight people, including four farmers, were killed. The Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee (KMSC) blocked rail traffic for three hours from Monday noon on the first anniversary of the Lakhimpur Kheri violence. "We are holding protest at 17 locations in the region," said Sarwan Singh Pandher.

Farmers Block Highway, Trains In Punjab Over Sugarcane Dues
Demanding to clear the sugarcane dues and increase the crop price, farmers in Punjab have staged a protest blocking the highway and railway track in Punjab's Jalandhar on August 21. ''If the government doesn't hold talks with us by today evening, then we'll give Punjab Bandh call,'' said MS Rai BKU-Doaba. Earlier on August 20, the farmers staged the protest against the state government for an indefinite period.

FCI Urges Punjab To Provide Land Records; Eyes Direct Transfer Of MSP
The Punjab office of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) has asked the director of civil supplies and consumer affairs to furnish the land records of farmers. Free Fuel At Delhi-Amritsar Highway; SAD Distributed To Protesters
