In a first, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s close aide, Special Assistant on Defence Malik Mohd Ahmad Khan came up with an admission of drugs being smuggled from Pakistan to Punjab using drones. His remarks came during an interview to senior Pakistani journalist Hamid Mir in Kasur city, which borders the Indian Punjab. When asked about smuggling, the close aid said, "Yes, and it (smuggling) is very scary."

The recent firing incident occurred at Bathinda Military Camp raises concerns over security at Base Camp. Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann conducted his first Cabinet expansion and inducted five AAP MLAs on July 4. The Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit administered the oath of office and secrecy to the MLAs at Guru Nanak Dev Auditorium of Punjab Raj Bhawan. MLAs inducted are Aman Arora, Dr Inderbir Singh Najjar, Fauja Singh Sarari, Chetan Singh Jourmajra, and Anmol Gagan Mann, who is the second woman in the Cabinet.

Punjab government stated on June 5 single-use plastic will be banned beginning in July. The declaration was made by Secretary of State for Science, Technology, and Environment Rahul Tewari at a virtual state-level gathering to commemorate World Environment Day. For the academic year 2022-23, Punjab Education Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer said that his department will provide free uniforms to 15,49,192 government school pupils from Grades 1 to 8. The education department has issued a grant of Rs 92.95 crore for students. The school management committees (SMCs) will distribute the free uniforms. Education authorities were told by the minister not to buy uniforms from any specific store.
