Ashwin Breaks 100-Year-Old Record; Takes Wicket Off 1st Ball Of Innings

Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, with his dismissal of English batsman Rory Burns on February 8 became the first spinner in over 100 years to take a wicket off the first delivery of an inning. Ashwin dismissed Burns on the fourth day of the first test match between India-England series in 2021. The earlier record was held by South African bowler Bert Vogler, who achieved the feat back in year 1907.
