Jadavpur University Student Death: UGC Says No Measure To Control Ragging
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has reprimanded Jadavpur University for submitting a "generic" report on the alleged ragging and sexual harassment of a student leading to his death, according to sources. Noting that no proactive measures have been taken by the university to curb ragging on campus, the commission has told the university that it is not satisfied with the report. Furthermore, the UGC sought investigation report.

Ragging Video At Govt-Run Medical College Goes Viral, Administration Launches Inquiry
Another incident of ragging at government-run medical college, Ratlam was reported in Madhya Pradesh, on July 31. The incident came days after seven MBBS students from the MGM medical college in Indore were arrested for ragging juniors. The second incident came to light through a social media post. In the video, seniors were allegedly ragging juniors, following which the college administration took cognizance and launched an inquiry.

Odisha College Student Commits Suicide In Dormitory; Blames Seniors For Ragging In Suicide Note
A 19-year-old BJB Autonomous College student allegedly committed suicide in her dormitories on July 2. The authorities discovered a suicide note inside the room, in which she claimed she was mentally tortured by three college seniors. She did not name anyone. Her mother has filed a complaint with the Badagada Police Station in Odisha, requesting a thorough investigation and the arrest of the three senior students.

17 Booked For Ragging Minor Boy At Medical College Hostel: Mumbai
A 24-year-old medical student in Mumbai has registered a case against 17 students for allegedly ragging and passing casteist remarks. However, the Occupational Therapy student at GS Medical College and KEM Hospital filed the case against several students including his roommates. Moreover, the victim was being harassed for the last three years and the FIR has been registered under the Maharashtra Anti-Ragging Act and IPC.
