Raigad

The rescue operation for the Raigad Landslide incident ended officially on July 24.  As per sources, at least 27 bodies were recovered from the debris and 144 were rescued. Although 57 people are still missing, the villagers in Irshalwadi tribal region, requested the disaster management rescue team to call off the operation, as majority of bodies are decomposing and risk of infection is increasing, troubling the residents.

The central government on November 13 declared the municipal council of Karjat as a garbage-free city in Maharashtra's Raigad district. Karjat reportedly received a three-star rating under the Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan.
