World's Highest Railway Bridge On Chenab River To Be Equipped With Golden Joint
The "Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link Project" of Indian Railways is nearing completion of the world's highest single-arch railway bridge across the Chenab River. The bridge spans a 272-km railway line and is 359 meters high. The bridge will also have a "Golden Joint" that connects the two sides of the bridge. The golden joint will connect the two bridge segments and the bridge overarch deck using High Strength Friction Grip bolts.

Assam Rail Traffic Disrupted For Many Hours As Brahmaputra Mail Collides With Bull
The overhead equipment (OHE) on the Delhi-Howrah train line collapsed when 15658 Brahmaputra Mail collided with a bull on July 30. Rail traffic was interrupted for almost 10 hours. Following the event, all trains upline were halted, and a railway team restored the line from Prayagraj to the incident site. Brahmaputra Mail engine had also experienced some mechanical difficulties, although no one was injured as a result of the event.

Railways Spent Rs 62 Crore In Last 5 Years On Free Rail Travel For Lok Sabha Members
Over the last five years, free rail travel for current and retired Lok Sabha members have cost the treasury Rs 62 crore. According to reports under Right to Information Act, this includes approximately Rs 2.5 crore in the pandemic-hit 2020-21 fiscal year. While MPs are permitted to travel for free in first class air-conditioned or executive class on trains, their spouses are also permitted to do so under certain restrictions.

Railway Section Engineer Commit Suicide After Being Depressed For Years: Maharashtra
In Palghar district of Maharashtra, Nitesh Chourasia (36), a section engineer with the railways allegedly committed suicide. On June 19, a police official confirmed the news and said, he committed suicide at his residence in Vartak Nagar, around 11;30 pm. Chourasia was said to be depressed for the past six-seven years and shot himself dead. However, he didn't blame anyone for the incident and is survived by wife and son.

Bengaluru's Sir M Visvesvaraya Railway Terminal was inaugurated on June 6. The first train to operate at the station was Ernakulam Tri-Weekly Express. Indian Railways Cancelled 6,995 Trains For Maintenance Work; 1,934 For Coal Transportation
