Assam Rail Traffic Disrupted For Many Hours As Brahmaputra Mail Collides With Bull

The overhead equipment (OHE) on the Delhi-Howrah train line collapsed when 15658 Brahmaputra Mail collided with a bull on July 30. Rail traffic was interrupted for almost 10 hours. Following the event, all trains upline were halted, and a railway team restored the line from Prayagraj to the incident site. Brahmaputra Mail engine had also experienced some mechanical difficulties, although no one was injured as a result of the event.

Railways Spent Rs 62 Crore In Last 5 Years On Free Rail Travel For Lok Sabha Members

Over the last five years, free rail travel for current and retired Lok Sabha members have cost the treasury Rs 62 crore. According to reports under Right to Information Act, this includes approximately Rs 2.5 crore in the pandemic-hit 2020-21 fiscal year. While MPs are permitted to travel for free in first class air-conditioned or executive class on trains, their spouses are also permitted to do so under certain restrictions.

Railway Section Engineer Commit Suicide After Being Depressed For Years: Maharashtra

In Palghar district of Maharashtra, Nitesh Chourasia (36), a section engineer with the railways allegedly committed suicide. On June 19, a police official confirmed the news and said, he committed suicide at his residence in Vartak Nagar, around 11;30 pm. Chourasia was said to be depressed for the past six-seven years and shot himself dead. However, he didn't blame anyone for the incident and is survived by wife and son.

Indian Railways Cancelled 6,995 Trains For Maintenance Work; 1,934 For Coal Transportation

Railway Protection Force Saves 150 Girls, Women From Human Trafficking

During the Railway Protection Force's pan-India Operation "Mahila Suraksha," which took place between May 3 and 31, 150 girls and women were saved from becoming victims of human trafficking. A total of 7000 people were detained for illegally traveling in women's coaches. RPF members risked their lives to rescue ten ladies who had slipped while boarding/deboarding the moving train and were in danger of being run over by the train.

Profit For Indian Railway Finance Corporation Increases By 37.90% In 2021-22

The external financing arm of Indian Railways, Indian Railway Finance Corporation Limited (IRFC), reported a 37.90% increase in profit after tax to Rs 6,090 crore in 2021-22 on May 20. The company's profit after tax for the previous fiscal year was 4,416 crore. As of March 31, 2022, the company's assets under management were €4,15,238 crore, representing a 15.32% increase.

Bomb Found On Railway Track In Gaya Disrupting Train Movements: Bihar

A crude bomb was discovered on the railway tracks in Gaya district of Bihar. "Railway operations were disrupted for two hours after a crude bomb was found on the railway track near Guraru railway station. It is within 100 meters range of the railway station," stated the Superintendent. Notably, the incident came a day after Naxals set a poclain machine on fire in Gaya.

Vadodara Railway Police Arrests 1 For Stealing From Passengers: UP

In Uttar Pradesh's Lalitpur, Vadodara Railway Police on February 17, arrested a person for allegedly stealing valuables from passengers on trains. The accused used to target sleeping people in the train and has been arrested by Vadodara police from Lalitpur, Uttar Pradesh. "Stolen material worth over Rs 11 lakh has been recovered from his possession," said DSP BS Jadav. However, further investigation is underway.
