Newly-Married Couple Found Dead Before Reception: Chhattisgarh

In a tragic incident, a newly-married couple identified as Aslam (24) and Kahkasha Bano (22) were found dead in their room, hours before their wedding reception, in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. On February 22, police confirmed the incident and suspected that the husband stabbed his wife over an argument and later killed himself. The couple got married on February 19. The police were informed by the family and an investigation is underway.

Elephant Tramples 52-Year-Old Woman To Death, Rs 25,000 Immediate Aid Given To Kin

In a wild elephant attack, a 52-year-old woman was trampled to death in Chhattisgarh's Surajpur district, said an official on May 31. Victim identified as Indarmania, set out to collect wood, along with two other women when the elephant got hold of her and trampled her to death. The other two women fled and alerted the forest personnel. An immediate aid of Rs 25,00o has been given to her kin.

Chhattisgarh: Fire At COVID Care Centre Kills 5 In Raipur

A fire outbreak at a COVID care centre in Chhattisgarh's Raipur district has claimed at least five lives. Officials stated the flames engulfed the COVID-19 ward after a short-circuit in a fan caused the fire. Reportedly, one patient died of severe burns while four others died of suffocation. Meanwhile, CM Bhupesh Baghel has announced a compensation of Rs four lakh for the kin of the deceased and ordered a probe.

Chhattisgarh: 14-year-old Girl Raped By 3 Men In Moving Car

The Raipur district police of Chhattisgarh on November 23 said that three men allegedly raped a minor girl in a moving car on November 17. Reportedly, one of the accused, named Himanshu Gupta, was an acquaintance of the 14-year-old victim. The accused had picked the girl from her house on the pretext of a joyride. The police said a case has been registered; however, the accused are on the run.
