Maharashtra Govt To Mandate Face Mask If COVID-19 Surge Continues

The Uddhav Thackeray-led Maharashtra Government is likely to bring mandatory face masks in the State. Considering the rise in COVID-19 cases, State Health Minister Rajesh Tope, on May 1 said, "If COVID-19 cases continue to rise, then we will have to make the wearing of masks compulsory". Furthermore,Tope assured that the health department is monitoring the Coronavirus situation and are inclined to vaccinate eligible children with speed.

Sharad Pawar Invites NCB Leaders For Emergency Meeting After Nawab Malik's Arrest

NCB chief Sharad Pawar invited party leaders to his residence for an emergency meeting, after the arrest of Nawab Malik, on February 23. Reportedly, Rajesh Tope, Chhagan Bhujbal, Ajit Pawar participated in the meeting at chief's residence in Mumbai. Earlier in the day, NCB leader Nawab Malik was arrested by Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering, which is allegedly linked to the Underworld Don and fugitive Dawood Ibrahim.

No Relaxation In Curbs At Least Till Mid-February, Says Rajesh Tope

Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope told the cabinet that the state is likely to see a record surge in Covid-19 cases between January and February, he stressed imposing restrictions and ramping up vaccination drive to curb infections. He stated, ''The cases have seen a decline in last two days, but it does not mean that the curve is flattening''. Maharashtra tops the chart in recording the highest number of cases.

'No Need To Panic,' Says Maharashtra Health Minister Over Omicron Situation

Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope on December 8, briefed media over Covid-19's Omicron situation. "Transmissibility is higher. But the severity or virulence is low. So we do not need to panic," said Tope. Furthermore, Tope said that there are 10 Omicron cases in Maharashtra at present.
