CDS General Anil Chauhan Meets Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh

Newly appointed Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Anil Chauhan met with union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on September 30. This came hours after General Chauhan officially took charge as the new CDS. This is also the first time a retired officer has been reappointed in this position. Notably, India’s first CDS General Bipin Rawat died in a plane crash in Tamil Nadu, last year December.

Mongolian President Khurelsukh Gifts Horse To Defence Minister Rajnath Singh

Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh gifted a horse to Indian defence minister Rajnath Singh, on September 6. Singh called on Khurelsukh to review and strengthen bilateral ties between the nations. Singh thanked Khurelsukh over the kind gesture, and named the horse “Tejas”. Singh then posted a photo of the horse on Twitter, and also said that the meeting went well.

'Post Of CDS Will Be Filled Soon', Says Defence Minister Rajnath Singh

Speaking at a media briefing, union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that a new Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) will appointed soon. He further stated that the "process for it is underway". The announcement comes after India's first CDS General Bipin Rawat passed away in a plane crash, in December 2021. The post of CDS is of the highest uniformed officer in rank.

Rajnath Singh Launches New Defence Recruitment Scheme

The Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh launched a new defence recruitment model called the 'Agnipath', on June 14.  The new model kicked in after Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) and Union Cabinet approved the new proposal scheme for armed forces. Major highlight of the new scheme is that young soldiers will be released after four-years of service. The new scheme will help youths to serve the country.
