Rakesh Tikait Ink Attack: Woman Arrested For 'Masterminding' Attack
In the case of "ink attack" at farmers' leader Rakesh Tikait, a women has been arrested for allegedly "masterminding" the attack, in Karnataka's Bangalore. Umadevi (32), a resident of Hebbal, has been arrested. Upon searching her house, police found six machetes and two swords. Apart from Uma, three more accused have been arrested for carrying out the attack. The accused stated that Tikait was attacked for not addressing in Kannada.

Farmer leader Rakesh Tikait fell victim to "ink attack" at a press conference in Karnataka's Bangalore, on May 30. Reportedly, Tikait was giving clarity about sting operation, where a farmer leader from Karnataka was allegedly caught asking for money. When the ink was thrown at Tikait's face, a chaos erupted among the public, as people were seen throwing chairs and creating a ruckus. Three persons have been detained so far.

Farmer Union Leader Rakesh Tikait Receives Death Threats, Files FIR
After receiving threat calls, Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait registered an FIR with the Muzaffarnagar Police in Uttar Pradesh. Furthermore, the details of the caller is unknown. On March 28, his driver Perjval Tyagi filed a complaint, following which an investigation was initiated. After the FIR, Rakesh Sharma, the sub inspector who is investigating the matter, visited Tikait at his residence.

The Sanyukt Kisan Morcha leader Rakesh Tikait, on December 26, denied to contest any election. Addressing the media, the Farmer leader said, the SKM is not going to contest elections in Punjab and it's all rumour. Rakesh Tikait, the leader of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), stated that it was "unfortunate" that Lakhbir Singh was killed near the Singhu border. He further stated that the incident will not affect the farmers' protest against the farm laws. Earlier, Lakhbir Singh was found dead with his hands and legs chopped off and hanged on a police barricade at the farmers' protest site, near the Singhu border.

Bharatiya Kisan Union head Rakesh Tikait has shown interest in resumption of talks with the Centre ahead of May 26, which will mark six months of the farm protests. He said, "When the government wants to talk, the Samyukt Kisan Morcha will talk."
