Bihar CM Appeals To Save Trees, Ties Rakhi To Them
To celebrate Rakshabandhan and promote the conservation of trees, Bihar's CM Nitish Kumar tied rakhis to trees in Patna on August 22. Urging the people to plant saplings, Kumar also said, ''People should save trees, just like they save people...We need to plant trees and save them to conserve the environment.'' Notably, he has been continuing the act since 2012 as a ''Vriksh Raksha Diwas'' or Tree Protection Day.

PM Modi Greets Nation On Occasion Of Rakshabandhan
Celebrating Rakshabandhan PM Narendra Modi wished the nation on August 22 and tweeted, ''Best wishes to the people of the country on the auspicious occasion of Rakshabandhan". On the day of Rakshabandhan, sisters tie rakhi on their brothers' wrists as per custom.
