Seven more refugees from Sri Lanka reached Tamil Nadu's Dhanushkodi, on June 17. With this, Rameshwaram has received at least over 90 refugees in total, fleeing from the ongoing Sri Lankan economic crisis. The seven refugees arrived include two families- Dossnavis (40), wife Rajini (39) and their three children, and Mathiya (40) and her seven-year-old son. Rameswaram-Dhanushkodi Rail Line To Be Restored Soon, Proposes Govt
The South Railways came up with a new proposal to restore the Rameswaram-Dhanushkodi rail line soon. Destroyed in 1964, the restoration of the line track connecting two destinations in Tamil Nadu will ease travel for people. An official said the new rail track will have an 18-km line, three stations, and one terminal station. Since the 1964 Tsunami, the Dhanushkodi station was out of service, which finally will be restored.

Woman Gang Raped, Body Burnt In Tamil Nadu's Rameswaram; Locals Thrash Accused
In Tamil Nadu's Rameswaram, a 40-year-old woman who went to the beach to collect seaweed, was reportedly abducted and killed by six natives of Odisha who work at a shrimp farm on May 26. After she went missing, her husband lodged a complaint, after which, her body was found partially burnt. Agitated locals, who also accused that she was sexually assaulted, set fire to the farm, and thrashed the accused.

Govt Nods To Conduct Underwater Study To Determine Ram Setu's Origin
The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research and Goa's National Institute of Oceanography have received the Centre’s go-ahead to determine the origin and formation of 'Ram Setu'. The analysis of the 48-km-long limestone bridge will be administered via archaeological antiquities and radiometric and thermoluminescence dating.
