Red Alert Issued In Kerala Amid Excessive Water Discharge From Dams

Amid Kerala rainfall and various dams continuing to discharge excess water, the concerned weather authority issues red alerts in Kerala. In Many dams of the state, water has been released due to excessive rainfall causing trouble to people in the region as the water level has breached the upper rule curve. Citing an example, the water level at Cheruthoni dam of Idukki reservoir is at 2,385.70 feet, amid drizzling forecast.

IMD Issues 'Red Alert' To Several Districts In Maharashtra Due To Heavy Rains

IMD has issued 'Red Alert' to the city of Mumbai and adjoining areas including Thane and Palghar, due to heavy rains, on July 8. The region is expected to receive 200 mm of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall. Meanwhile, a red alert has also been issued to Pune, Satara, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg and Kolhapur. Also, strong winds reaching up to 50 kms can be expected.

Heavy Rain Warning In Kerala, Says India Meteorological Department

The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Thiruvananthapuram has predicted heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in different parts of Kerala till October 17. Five districts of the state are likely to see heavy rain today where a red alert has been sounded. The districts where heavy rain warning is issued are Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur. The reduction in rainfall is expected from October 19th.
