In a historic move, the Gujarat Government released 11 convicts for raping a pregnant Bilkis Bano in 2002. Notably, convicted in 2008, the accused moved the SC, seeking premature release, granted by the Gujarat Government later in 2022. At least 20 Indian fishermen were handed over to India via the Attari-Wagah border, on January 24. ''They mistakenly entered the Pakistan Territory in 2017, due to the lack of navigation, and were held captive in Karachi's Landhi jail for 4 years,'' informed officer Anurag Singh. The fishermen extended gratitude to the Government. ''I request the government to bring more prisoners back who are stuck in Pakistan,'' said a fisherman.
