India's First Saline Water Lantern 'Roshni' Unveiled
Union minister Jitendra Singh launched India's first saline water lantern, on August 14, which powers up using seawater and charges the LEDs. The lantern was named "Roshni", and according to Singh, the lantern will bring "ease of living" to the poor and needy, especially those who belong to the fishermen community. The lamp can also be used in places where seawater is not available, by using normal water with salt.

Karnataka Signs MoU With ReNew Energy, Brings Investment Worth Rs 50,000 Cr
At World Economic Forum in Davos, the Karnataka Government signed an MoU with ReNew Power, a leading renewable energy company. As per the inked MoU, the company will invest Rs 50,000 crore in the Karnataka Renewable energy sector in the next seven years. Signed in the presence of CM Bommai Basavaraj, the new proposal will bring green hydrogen, battery storage, and renewable energy units set up in Karnataka in phases.

First Solar To Set Up Million Dollar Solar Manufacturing Facility In India
American solar panels manufacturer First Solar Inc. aims to set up a fully vertically integrated photovoltaic (PV) thin-film solar module manufacturing facility in India and is willing to infuse $684 million in the project. On approval from the Indian government, the company is expected to begin its operations in mid-2023. "India is an attractive market for First Solar," said Chief Executive Officer Mark Widmar.
