Cambridge University scientists have produced the world's first "synthetic" embryo with a brain and beating heart. The embryo was generated using mouse stem cells, which are similar to stem cells in the body and may develop into practically any form of cell. Researchers were able to encourage the stem cells to "speak" to each other by activating a certain set of genes and providing a particular environment for their interactions.

According to a media report on August 26, Britain's Queen Elizabeth II is set to undertake the traditional ceremony to select a newly elected leader as the country's prime minister at her Balmoral Castle estate in Scotland. Supreme Court directed the Centre on July 21 to provide it with information on the preventative, corrective, and remedial actions taken by state governments thus far in accordance with its previous hate speech judgments within six weeks. Reserve Bank of India gave banks and non-banking financial companies (NBFCs) a three-month extension on June 21 to comply with certain rules connected to providing credit and debit cards, including card activation without clients' approval.
