SC Orders Govt To Provide Information On State's Anti-Hate Speech Laws
Supreme Court directed the Centre on July 21 to provide it with information on the preventative, corrective, and remedial actions taken by state governments thus far in accordance with its previous hate speech judgments within six weeks. A bench of Justices directed the Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs to collect the material into a pamphlet. SC was considering appeals against claimed hate speech directed at a certain population.

Indian Tourism To Face Steady Growth; No Pre-Pandemic Levels Until 2026: Report
Indian Tourism will not return to pre-pandemic levels till 2026, according to the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER). Report suggests, Indian tourism was 96% below its pre-pandemic numbers till June 2021. The revival is expected to be steady by 2025, around half of what it was in 2019. Moreover, India is witnessing partial lockdown and restrictions due to Omicron and COVID-19, putting travel plans on hold.

Twitter Called Off New Feature That Alerted Users Before Intense Disputes
Twitter, previously this month, stated the launch of a function that will alert users if a conversation is likely to heat up or get hostile. The decision was made as a part of the company's "conversational-health" strategy. Reportedly, the firm called quits on the feature. Besides, the function was not well received by users, and because this was a limited trial, few randomly selected accounts were eligible for prompts.

US Intelligence Report Addresses UFO's Mysterious Sightings
Office at the Director of National Intelligence in a recent report over the UFO's sightings could only explain one out of the 144 sightings between 2004-2021. The report did not explicitly speak of extraterrestrial life but did not deny its existence either. The report, however, stated that these sightings could "pose a challenge to US national security." It also said that pilots are not equipped to identify unusual ariel objects.

COVID-19: 10 States/ UTs Account For India's 79.32% Cases Says Health Ministry
The Health Ministry's report on April 17 stated that ten states/UTs accounted for the countries 79.32% of total new Covid-19 cases. The states/UTs are Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan. Sixteen states and UTs are showing a steep increase in cases, Maharashtra accounts for 38.09% of the country's total active caseload.
