SC Consider PIL Filed EVMs Usage For Voting, Ahead Of Polls
The Supreme Court considered to hear a PIL against EVMs usage. On January 19, CJI NV Ramana reviewed the PIL, which mentioned imposing EVMs for voting as per 61A of the Representation of People Act is "illegal & unconstitutional" and should be quashed. The petitioner said, the Section 61A is not permitted by Parliament and is not valid. Notably, EVMs are being used tor voting instead of ballot papers now.
