NV Ramana, Chief Justice of India on September 26, called for a 50% reservation for women in the judiciary and wished to have the same in law colleges. "We need 50% reservation for women in judiciary. It is an issue of thousands of years of oppression," he said. Records show that less than 30% of women constitute the lower judiciary while it is 11% for higher levels.

In a meeting chaired with PM Narendra Modi, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray has requested the Centre to increase the 50% reservation for Marathas and OBCs. “We presented all the facts, and steps need to be taken. He intently heard us and we are hopeful that positive steps will be taken,” Thackeray said. Deputy CM Ajit Pawar and PWD Minister Ashok Chavan were also present in the meeting.

The Telangana government on February 8 sanctioned 10% reservation to the economically weaker section (EWS) in educational institutions and state government jobs. Subsequently, the general administration department and education department would separately issue required amendments to existing rules in this regard. All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has notified that Kashmiri pandits, Kashmiri migrants and Hindu families living in Kashmir valley would be granted relaxations in college admissions from the year 2020-21.
