Retail Inflation Eases Marginally To 6.44%

India’s retail inflation eased marginally to 6.44% in February after three-month high of 6.52% in January. The new inflation will burn pockets of consumer as prices continued to be above the Reserve Bank of India’s so-called tolerable limit of 6% for two straight months. On March 13, the RBI released the data, which said the food and beverages inflation index stood at 6.26% during the month against 6.19% in January.

India's Retail Inflation Rises To 4.91% In Nov Against 4.48% In Oct

The latest report of the National Statistical Office (NSO) on December 13 said the Retail Inflation of India in November 2021 rose to 4.91% from 4.48% in comparison to October's data. However, the inflation was recorded within the range of the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) target of 2-6% for the fifth time in a row. Earlier in November 2020, the inflation rate was registered at 6.93%.

Price Of Tomatoes Reach Rs 100/Kg In Chennai: Tamil Nandu

The price of tomatoes increased in Chennai, due to incessant rains which damaged the crop in Tamil Nadu. In Chennai's Koyambedu wholesale market, tomatoes were sold at Rs 90/kg on December 4 which increased to Rs 100/kg on December 5. “Market has shown a sudden rise in the prices of tomato and this will have a spiral effect," said M. Thiagarajan, President of Koyambedu Fruits and Vegetable merchants association.

Mother Dairy Increases Milk Price By Rs 2 Per Litre 

Mother Dairy has hiked the prices of all its milk variants by Rs 2 per liter in Delhi-NCR and other cities, effective from July 11. The company has increased the prices after an interval of 1.5 years as ''it has been experiencing inflationary pressure on overall input costs''. Besides, the company's consumer milk prices will also increase in East and Central UP, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Nagpur.

Retail Inflation Elevates due to Food Prices

Retail inflation rate has raised to 6.93% in July compared to 6.23% in June. Food prices accounted for nearly half of the retail inflation as food inflation accelerated to 9.62% according to Consumer Price Index (CPI). Food prices soared since April due to the supply disruption caused by lockdown.
