Unidentified Boat With AK-47, Rifles Found On Harihareshwar Shore

In Raigad, an unidentified boat with AK-47, rifles and bullets was found on the shore of Harihareshwar at Shrivardhan, said district management. On August 17, the lifeboat was found on the shore of Mauje Bhardakhol with weapons, but no person was on the boat. Notably, Harihareshwar is about 200 km from Mumbai and 170 km from Pune. The police have launched an investigation and are inspecting the weapons.

ANLA's 13 Militants Surrender Before Assam Police

In Assam's Karbi Anglong district, 13 militants of All Adivasi National Liberation Army surrendered before the security forces on May 8. As per sources, the surrendered militants also deposited a cache of arms and ammunition, and rifles, in presence of the Assam Police, CRPF and Assam Rifles in Bokajan police station. Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said the state continued its peace march with the surrender of the militants.

IAF Set To Buy AK-103 From Russia; Advanced Version Of AK-47

To combat terrorists, the Indian Air Force signed an emergency pact of Rs 300 crore with Russia to buy 70,000 AK-103 rifles, an advanced version of deadly AK-47 rifles. Reportedly, the new rifles will replace the currently used IASAS rifles. However, the elite forces in the Indian Navy already use the new rifles. Besides, India is also planning to buy advanced AK-203 rifles from Russia.

Indian Army At Eastern Ladakh To Be Equipped With Sig-16 Assault Rifles

Indian Army at eastern Ladakh is set to get 72,500 Sig-16 Assault Rifles as the government has approved the procurement of the weapons from the US. Reportedly, the US-imported guns will replace the existing Indian Small Arms System (Insas) rifles. The troops fighting on the LoC and LAC will be given 1.5 lakh imported rifles and the rest will be provided with AK-203 rifles, which are jointly produced by India and Russia.
