Brazil: Rio Carnival 2021 Postponed Due To COVID-19
Brazil’s iconic Rio Carnival 2021 has been postponed for the first time in 100 years, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Carnival organiser, League of Samba Schools LIESA stated that it is impossible to safely conduct the parades during such times. The decision is likely to impact thousands of Brazilians dependent on the Carnival for livelihood. The country had reported its first COVID case a day after the Carnival 2020 in February.
